The Most Precious of Cargoes opening film and official competition at Annecy 2024

Annecy opens on June 9 with Michel Hazanavicius. Following its presentation in competition at Cannes, The Moste Precious of Cargoes, the director’s first animated film, will open the world’s biggest festival dedicated to animated cinema. The feature will be presented in the L’Officielle competition alongside 11 other films.

The team of the film The Most Precious of Cargoes led by its director, graphic designer and co-screenwriter Michel Hazanavicius will unveil, on Friday June 17 at 9:30 a.m., the first images of the feature film in preparation at 3.0 studio in Angoulême.

Synopsis

Under a baobab tree, an old man tells a story to the children around him: The story of the everlasting friendship between Maki, a little boy aged 10, and Zarafa, an orphaned giraffe, a gift from the Pasha of Egypt to the King of France, Charles X.
Hassan, Prince of the Desert, is instructed by the Pasha to deliver Zarafa to France. But Maki has made up his mind to do everything in his power to stop Hassan from fulfilling his mission and to bring the giraffe back to its native land – even if it means risking his own life – because he must fulfill his promise to Zarafa’s late mother.
During an epic journey that takes them from Sudan to Paris, passing on the way through Alexandria, Marseille and the snow-capped Alps, they have many adventures, crossing paths with the aviator Malaterre, a pair of unusual twin cows called Mounh and Sounh, and the pirate queen Bouboulina.

Synopsis

Mona est une princesse dont aucune petite fille n’envierait le sort. Depuis la disparition de ses parents, elle vit seule dans un château avec deux personnages sinistres et repoussants, Goomi et Monseigneur.
Un jour, le son de ses pleurs fait apparaître une licorne, qui s’appelle U, et qui dit être là pour la réconforter et la protéger tant qu’elle en aura besoin. U devient donc la compagne de Mona, sa petite et sa grande sœur à la fois, sa confidente et son inséparable amie… Et la vie est plus douce.
Mona grandit et se transforme en une très jolie princesse, alors que s’installe dans la forêt voisine une troupe de Wéwés, des êtres pacifiques, pleins de charme et de fantaisie. Ils n’ont aucun pouvoir particulier, et pourtant leur présence va tout changer.
Et surtout il y a Kulka, un musicien rêveur…

Synopsis

Synopsis

Lorsqu’elle part à Toulon poursuivre ses études, Myriam, fille unique, demande à son père, Mohamed, l’impossible : héberger Gaston, son amoureux, quelques jours … Juste le temps qu’il trouve du travail et un logement !
De quoi perturber l’équilibre affectif de cet artificier misanthrope qui pour se consoler de l’ingratitude des vivants, convoque la glorieuse légende de ses ancêtres algériens, son propre “mille et une nuits”, qu’il contait chaque soir à sa fille chérie pour l’endormir, afin d’éviter la révélation trop brutale d’un secret de famille.
Dans ce film, Mohamed nous emmène dans une aventure humaine dense, tendre et universelle, où les hommes se révèlent meilleurs qu’ils n’y paraissent et où l’étranger n’est pas celui que l’on croit…

Synopsis

Sheila is not the sort to put up with this nonsense: she won’t submit to the first scrum she faces and plans to turn over the situation. With pressure from the village women, who invest their hope in her, and with the help of local legend Granny Spanghetto (who makes the knees of the stoutest prop tremble), Sheila will take on the men, in their own ground.
Following a legendary match, life will never be the same again in the peaceful little village of Ovalie…

Synopsis

New prize for The Bears' Famous Invasion of Sicily at the New Chitose Airport International Animation Film Festival (Japan) au New Chitose Airport International Animation Film Festival (Japon)

The Grand Prize in the feature film category of the New Chitose Airport International Animation Film Festival was awarded to Lorenzo Matotti for The Bears’ Famous Invasion of Sicily.

The film has been selected in around twenty international festivals including Cannes, Anima (Be), Les Césars, Seville (Es), BIAF (Co), Annecy, Locarno (It)… and has received numerous awards including the Junior Europe Prize at the FFE in Seville (Es, 2019), the Best Director at Festa del Cinema di Roma (It, 2019)…

The Bears’ Famous Invasion of Sicily nominated at César 2020 « technical label for production design »

The Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques set up a new system to allow its members to choose among a list of movies pre-selected by experts of the technical branch during the first round of vote. There is no obligation to vote for a movie in the list – it only aims at highlighting the technicians that stood out in the movies of the year.
All the Academy members technicians have had the opportunity to vote on a secured platform from Monday, December 2nd to Friday, December 6th.
5 techniques categories will be awarded during next César Ceremony – Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Sound. 10 films are nominated in each of them.

The Bears’ Famous Invasion of Sicily is nominated for « technical label for production design ».
