Extension of the exhibition From Popeye to Persepolis at the Musée de la Cité in Angoulême

Due to the great success of the exhibition “From Popeye to Persepolis” at the Comic Strip museum, its duration has been extended until December 31, 2022.

The exhibition “From Popeye to Persepolis – comics and animated films”, has the unique aim of showing the origin and metamorphosis of a new popular culture. It explores the ways in which two arts, comics and cartoons, and later animated films, grew together, were disseminated and infused into the heart of popular culture.

Without claiming to be exhaustive, the exhibition explores the complex and fruitful relationship between animated film and comics in public and private spaces. Among the rich selection of works on display are the films The Bears’ Famous Invasion in Sicily and Fear(s) of the Dark.

Curator of the exhibition: Anne Hélène Hoog, Pascal Vimenet and Serge Bromberg
Musée de la cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l’image, Angoulême. From January 26th to December 31st 2022.
